This site will help you to better understand the world of timeshares.

what is a timeshare?

A timeshare is the name given to a piece of real estate where a group of individuals share ownership in the same property.  Usually the property is a vacation home or second home.  These people co-own the property even though they are not related as would be the case in a normal ownership situation such as the example of a husband and a wife owning a home.

Timeshare properties can often be found in warm or exotic destinations where people like to holiday. Examples of popular locations for timeshares include Florida, Aruba, Hawaii, Las Vegas and even Disney World. You can also buy houseboat timeshares right on the water or find a time-share resort that is for rent.

You can also find time-shares in cold weather areas where there are plenty of ski resorts such as in Colorado or the Rocky Mountains. International deals are available for sale or for rent worldwide in such countries as Spain, Mexico, Italy and Ireland. Most of the time these are luxury time-share villas that are located in gated communities.

Timeshare properties are elaborate and well outfitted compared to a hotel room and often include full bedrooms, a kitchen and sometimes a beachfront area as well. Many of these time-share properties and rentals also have outdoor and indoor swimming pools.

Most timeshare ownership units are for the length of one week. The ownership of time-shares is very similar to that of a condominium except that you can only stay on your shared property during the time allotted.  If you are renting time-shares then the price will be higher during peak seasons. For instance a time-share for a week in Florida in March will cost a lot more then a week in June when the rainy season starts in that tropical paradise.
