Timeshare Ownership and Coloured Weeks

There are two major exchange companies, Resort Condominiums International (RCI) and Interval International (II).  They use coloured weeks charts to allow you to switch your time share unit for an equivalent unit somewhere else in the world.

There are certain conditions involved to make sure that this system is fair and that is where the coloured weeks season system comes in. If you own an off season week you will not be able to exchange it for a fabulous on season week.  You can only exchange it with a week that is the same color as your own so that you are trading a value for value vacation stay.

To help you make the right decisions and exchanges the time share these companies publish full color catalogs showing the various time share resorts that are owned across the globe. The various weeks of the year are then color coded for each resort. RCI uses a red, white and blue system and II uses a red, yellow and green system, with red representing the ideal season in both companies.

Of course red weeks are always highly in demand and indicate the height of a winter skiing system or the height of the beach system. A blue or green code indicates an off season. White or yellow weeks are in between; not really prime season and not really the dead season.
