Timeshare Exchange with RCI and Interval International

Both RCI and Interval International are time share exchange companies that have access to time share units all over the world.

A subsidiary of the Cendant Corporation, RCI is the largest broker of timeshare exchanges in the world. Each year they publish a massive catalogue of time share properties that informs people who want to trade their time share of what is available elsewhere. This publication is also often used by timeshare salesmen as a helpful resource for informing new buyers of what is available to trade in the world in terms of times share units with points or exchange programs.

The timeshare program at the RCI is often compared to a bank in which the owner of one timeshare unit deposits a unit of time into the bank and then is allowed to withdraw a time share unit of equal time and value from the bank.  This process is also sometimes called “banking your weeks.” Owners are allowed to deposit their weeks for up to two years before having to make a decision on where or when they would like to visit another time share.

Interval International or II is similar to RCI in regards to depositing weeks, but another option not offered by RCI does not require you to give up your unit until an exchange unit has been located.  If one isn't found, you retain your unit.

However there are some conditions that help make this whole exchange process fair. First of all members of either must be in good financial standing before they are allowed to exchange their weeks with other weeks in the company’s available inventory.
