Time share Maintenance Fees and Other COSTSWhen purchasing a timeshare, the price of the unit is not the only factor that you need to consider. Like anything to do with banking and real estate there are all sorts of hidden fees and costs. Here are a few added costs you may not have considered before you bought that time share. Maintenance fees: Maintenance fees really do depend on how fancy the time share is that you bought. It might also depend on the location. For instance if your time share is on a snowy ski slope in Colorado you might pay a higher maintenance fee than someone who owns a timeshare in Aruba. This is because there could be extra costs to the maintenance of the property such as snow removal, emergency generators and other concerns. Maintenance fees usually run upwards of three hundred a year, sometimes considerably higher. Membership fees: A membership to RCI or Interval International, if you plan on exchanging your timeshare. Exchange fees: The fee that will be charged by RCI or II when you exchange your week. Cost of Travel: Another cost that many people do not really factor into the purchase of their time share is the cost of travel. This is because most people have to travel to find the timeshare that they want to buy. Your incentive for purchasing a timeshare is most likely to enjoy a low-cost vacation. Research the expenses and hidden fees before you buy!
