a world of timeshares

What Can You Do With Your Timeshare?

Now that you own a timeshare, what can you do with it?

Use it.  Some people buy them and never use them, but most people who buy timeshares vacation at the same place every year.

An internal exchange within your resort or family of resorts is also a possibility, if you would prefer to vacation in a different timeframe.

If your own resort gets boring and you belong to RCI or II, contact them to exchange your week/points for an exciting vacation somewhere else in the world.

Another choice is to rent it out.  Many timeshare owners make money by renting out the vacation property during the weeks when they are not using it. Some owners of timeshare even sell days of times to make a profit.

Offering your timeshare for rent is usually facilitated in the same way that putting any property up for rent is. Starting out by offering it to family, friends and co-workers.  If that doesn't work, you simply put an advertisement online or in the newspaper and name the time that is available for and your asking price. If you are advertising your time share for rent online it is a good idea to remember to put in the appropriate keywords such as where it is located (Florida, Aruba etc.), who it is owned by (RCI, II, Disney etc.) and an indication of its size (suits a family, single occupancy, ideal for a couple etc.) Yet another tip is to try and find an advertising medium online for renting your time share that allows you to post pictures of both the interior and exterior of the time share. This is particularly recommended if your time share is in an exotic place like Costa Rica and has an incredible view!

Another great use for a timeshare is that time spent within its walls can be given away as a gift. Offering a friend who is recuperating from an illness or a newly wedded couple one of your weeks at your time share makes a unique, thoughtful and unforgettable present.
